Our first overnight sail! + My free video on playfulness, spaciousness & rest

Thank you so much for all your kind words about my painting last week. It was lovely to hear from so many of you.

This week we’ve spent time catching up on rest (we spent the entire day on Friday watching movies – something I haven’t done since we moved onboard the boat!), having impromptu catch ups with friends (old and new) and putting together the free video series on Gentle Business with Amanda Rootsey and Naomi Arnold.

If you’d like to see my video, it’s up today!

I share things that aren’t only to do with business, but living gently in general. I explore how I’ve integrated spaciousness, rest, safety and support into how I live and work.

Plus I share how I manage my time (which goes against most time management tips you’ll probably hear) and how you can use playfulness to beat procrastination so you can get things done with more joy, even doing the dishes.

Today we are setting sail on the next leg of our adventure. (Here’s a pic of one of the lovely sunsets we’ve enjoyed this week).

The plan is we’re leaving Port Stephens and heading to the beautiful Broughton Island for an overnight visit, before heading north to either Camden Haven or Port Macquarie, depending on the weather and the swell. If the swell is too big, we won’t be able to cross the bar at the mouth of the river, so we’ll just play it by ear and use the VHF to check in with Marine Rescue when we get closer. Marine Rescue always knows the current conditions in the local area and are so helpful.

I’m excited about this next leg. It will include our first overnight sail together onboard Day Dream (it’s about a 19-21 hours sail) and we’ll be taking turns doing watches so each of us can have a rest, probably 3 hours on and 3 hours off.

The weather is forecast to be good, so fingers crossed it all is ‘smooth sailing’ as they say.

Well, I hope you enjoy our free video series if you haven’t seen it already and wishing you a wonderful week. You’re welcome to follow our adventures on Instagram and Facebook where I’ll be posting pictures of this next leg of the voyage.

Here’s to nurturing a sense of safety and enjoying living gently, even (especially) when we are out of our comfort zones. (You’ll see what I mean when you watch my video :D)

~ Nicola

PS. Our free video series on doing business gently is out now! Amanda Rootsey shared her inspiring story in the first video, my video is out today, and Naomi Arnold’s will be live this week.

I find it so interesting listening to how we all do things differently – in ways that work for us. I hope you they inspire you to live gently, be kind to yourself and embrace your uniqueness in 2018.
